good-bye Kenya...hello Europe

Reika and I have now departed from one another. She is currently flying back to the states, and I am sitting in a hostel waitinf for my friend Jenny to arrive. Her and Reika will actually pass one another in the sky. Our time at Tenwek ended very sweetly. We had to say a lot of good-byes. Everyone in the hospital was asking us to 'please, please stay.' I wanted so badly to just say 'okay, you talked me into it.' It was very sad saying good-bye to Mary, our upstairs neighbor/mother. She really took care of us while we were living at tenwek. We got to call her right before we left the airport which was good for reika and I both. We spent out last week doing a number of things in Nairobi. We got to spend a last few meals with the Bemm family, our supervisor; we went to a cute highschool play, we got to go to an orphange where we helped care for the children's medical needs. I was put in charge of weighing the children, and REika had to give them their meds. We saw over 65 children in just about 3 hours. It was CRAZY. The orphanage was much different from the ones at Tenwek. on our last day REika and I woke up early and went to the Nairobi national park where we got to see about 30 baby orphaned elephants. They were so cute! They seriously acted like a bunch of children playing around on the playground. Reika and I awwed and awwed everytime an elephant moved. It was so fun. After the elephants we went to the giraffe park. We got to feed and pet the giraffes. I LOVEDDD this because the giraffes were my favorite animal on the safari. REika and I actually got to feed them with our mouths haha. Reika was not to sure about this, but right when the guide asked if anyone wanted to try it my hand was the first one up. It was so fun. Their tongues are seriously bigger than my whole face. We got some GREAT pictures. After the giraffes we enjoyed our last lunch together and then walked around nairobi for a while. Saying good-bye in the airport was very sad. REika and I have spent every last moment together and now we are in different countries. I know that we both shed a few tears as we were on our planes with an empty seat next to the both of us. What a great experince this was. Thank you all for your prayers. I learned so much, but still have a lot of processing to do. I am really tired, so sorry this post is not as detailed as the last. I just wanted to thank everyone for checking up on us and praying for us. We could def. feel them the whole time we were in Kenya. I will try to post throughout my european travels. God bless! REika is hopefully going to post a few picture of the giraffes when she gets back to the states.
